Open Letter to Max Baucus

We all have noticed that the Health Care Reform debate has become overly angry, contentious, and filled with myths and misinterpretations.  It also has become way too complicated.  I just sent the following letter to Sen. Max Baucus, chair of the Senate Finance Committee, outling a road map to Health Care Reform made really simple.

Please feel free to use any or all of this letter when you write or call your elected representatives.

Dear Senator Baucus,

As you know, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimate for Health Care Reform with a public option is $400 Billion less than for a similar bill without a public option.

What is the public option? It is simply ‘Medicare for all’ – a tried and proven efficient, cost-saving method of health care insurance, with a high level of consumer satisfaction.

We will not be able to control cost without the public option.  Sen. Grassley and others have forfeited their credibility for a bipartisan effort.  Please have your committee send out a bill with MediChoice – effectively Medicare for all – as one health insurance plan Americans can choose from in a Health Insurance exchange.

Add MediChoice, the public option, to the menu of the federal employee – congressional health insurance exchange, and open this exchange to all.

Senator Kennedy would be pleased.

Sincerely,

This is what I told the White House to do, Keep it as simple as you possibly can, just like this.

    Thanks!
